Protect Your Information

Your personal information in the wrong hands is as good as cash. Protect yourself and your personal information at all times. 

To ensure your information is secure, you are responsible to

  • Protect your PIN (Personal Identification Number, used with your banking cards),
  • Protect your PAC (Personal Access Code, used to identify yourself for online banking), and
  • Ensure your computing environment, including your home computer, is as safe as possible.
  • Know the risks and threats associated with online banking or in-person card transactions, especially current fraud schemes.
  • Know the contents of the legal agreements for all your banking services, including online banking. These agreements are legally binding. 
  • Ensure your banking and product statements are shredded before discarding them.

Protect your Personal Identification Number (PIN)

Your Personal Identification Number (PIN), which enables you to use point-of-sale and ATM services, ensures that only you can access your accounts.

To protect your PIN, please observe the following secPrority practices:

  • Select a PIN that is easy for you to remember but difficult for others to guess.
  • Do not select a part of your PAC (your online ‘key’) or another password.
  • Keep your PIN confidential and do not share it with anyone.
  • Do not write down your PIN or store it in a file on your computer.
  • Never disclose your PIN in a voice or email, and do not disclose it over the phone.
  • Ensure no one observes you typing in your PIN.
  • If you suspect that someone else knows your PIN, change it immediately.
